NINO

Nino first started shoemaking many moons ago in Italy. It had been some time so he attended the course to brush up on his skills and get back in the the timeless past-time that is shoemaking.

BILEN

Bilen is a final year product design student. His final major project is a footwear boot that will become a footwear brand. To level up his university project + his route to market he learnt how to make shoes so he could hand craft his own sample.

ALEX

Alex dreams of one day launching his own skate brand built around vegan materials. Before taking that leap, he wanted to understand the craft from the ground up, joining our Foundation Course to discover whether sustainability and shoemaking could truly walk the same path.

Alex is a designer at Lego. A dream job for many. But even Lego designers need to get out of the office. A long time sneakerhead, Alex completed his dream of hand crafting his own pair, and adding a truly bespoke 1 of 1 to his collection.

About SKL SHOES

We’ve designed SKL footwear to strip sneaker construction down to its essentials — giving you a clear, high-quality platform to learn the fundamentals of shoemaking.

It’s a foundation — a starting point you can later evolve into your own prototypes, samples, or brand concepts.

You’ll build your SKL pair using premium vegetable-tanned leather, chosen for its structure, versatility, and suitability for learning. It’s an excellent material for developing technique and gives you the option to hand-dye your pair for a personalised finish.

We understand shoemaking can be daunting to jump in to — if you have any questions we're here to help!

Are the courses suitable for beginners?

We cater for all skillsets. We will have plenty of time for practice and get you to point where you will feel confident with the process.

Can I pay in installments?

Klarna and installment payment services are available at checkout.

Alternatively, you can pay a deposit of £350 today and pay the remaining amount before your course starts.

If you wish to pay later, please use PAYLATER coupon at checkout.

Please note a full payment is required for you to start your course, and all deposits are non-refundable.

What do I need?

We'll provide everything you'll need on the day. Shoemaking is a craft and requires skill and patience, all we ask is you bring a positive attitude to learning and we'll help you with the rest.

Is there an age limit?

The age limit is 14 and above. Please get in touch if you're under 16. The course requires high levels of concentration as well as handling heavy machinery and knives.

What's the difference between the Derby and Oxford?

In shoemaking there are generally 2 construction styles for sneakers, oxford and derby. We recommend simply going for the design you’d prefer to wear, as there is no difference in terms of skills required. During the course you will be taught the difference between the two.

I always wanted to take customs to the next level and that course exactly reached me that, how to be creative and design and make my own pair of sneakers. I learned how to sew, glue and much more.
